Liberty of London:: Target Pop Up

This afternoon I met my adorable friend Jean Michelle at her Times Square office to frolic down to Target's Liberty of London pop up store. This morning was the first time I heard anything of the store's partnership with the discount store (I've been living under a rock lately). I expected to see sweet, delicate, dainty floral prints, and that's exactly what I got. I was pleasantly surprised with the collection. I'm not one to wear sugary sweet prints and silhouettes but loved the scarves, lingerie, men's button down shirts, ties, and all the quirky house ware accessories. There was a to die for bike that JM and I considered going in on but it wasn't realistic.

The lovable JML waiting in line to get in!

I restrained myself and only purchased 1 thing...What you got in that bag?!

TaDaaaaaaa!!! I purchased this top/tunic/nightie!? A purchase with many purposes! Still warming up to the print that seems to be coming up roses...a little out of my league, but I loved the silhouette. A bit racier than I would normally wear but I couldn't take my eyes off of it.

The back looks like fabric was sewn onto the bottom of a bra...I LOVE IT! After all, this spring season is all about wearing under garments and sleepwear as day wear right?!?!!?

Waiting to get in...anxious!
Jacket: Thrifted Limited Denim Jacket
Dress: Makeshift dress from my roommate's old Express skirt
Belt: Vintage elephant belt... The love of my weardrobe!
Sunnies: Gift from mi madre
Bag: Gryson...on consignment from Becky!!!

Favorite Fall Fads

As spring is slowly and delicately enveloping the city, I thought I better post my favorite fall trends before I discard them to enjoy the sun, outdoor seating at brunch, and beach filled days. Please bare with me as this could be a lengthy post...

{richard chai love, chloe, margiela}

I'm loving the idea of wide leg pants. Don't get me a wrong, I love my skinny and slim fit jeans, they easily tuck into boots and look equally as fanciful paired with knock out heels. They have been my go to bottoms on many a day. I just find that there is something so endearing and dapper about being tactfully clad in a set of flowing, eloquently tailored, wide leg pants. I'm resurrecting two pair of Lela Rose wide leg pants from my closet this fall and pairing with my newest obsession...clogs.

{proenza schouler, chanel}

I've quickly become obsessed with these onomatopoeic shoes. It started with the Chanel show last spring and then resurfaced when I saw Roxy's pair of eggplant clogs from Rachel Comey. Instant height in a shoe that is sturdy. I rarely slip into a pair of pin thin heels because I shift my weight like a clock pendulum and teeter toter as I walk. I save those show stopping heels for special occasions. Since I walk everywhere and all day, I want something that isn't just comfortable but telling of my style and personality. This is it!!!!! Perfect mate for any pant silhouette and adorable with skirts and dresses. Planning on clogging around in these all spring and summer...and straight into fall, especially with leopard prints.
{balmain, mulberry}

I say this in a very audacious tone, there isn't anything ground breaking about an animal print. They make there rounds every couple of years and then fade back into hibernation for a while. The difference this time around is that the prints are acting as a neutral. Why haven't we done this before?!?! I loved the styling at Mulberry with the looks being head to toe mixed leopard print. To pull this off you have to mix and match the size of the print and keep in mind similar color stories. So smart!!!! And if you give a girl an animal print, there is a good chance she'll ask you for a new fur to go with it!

{michael kors, j mendel}

There is no denying that fur, faux or real, was the biggest trend this season. I couldn't be happier about it! Designers pulled out all the stops to make sure we would be completely covered in furry goodness next time the brutal chill blows through the city. Furs were created in the likes of coats, vests, jackets, muffs, scarves, elaborate head pieces, gloves, even key chains. I was abundantly impressed with the variety that was presented. I'm eager as a beaver (or for a beaver) to acquire some new fluff for the chillier months that are inevitably going to come!

A few other trends I'm looking forward to that received honorable mention::
50's inspired pants... in all materials and colors
{isabel marant}

Over the knee boots are staying around, and in svelte suede.
{e. tahari}

Both of these are a little formal, but I think mermaid silhouettes are going to be revisited, but in a new life as day wear...mark my words!!

Chanel Gets Inked

One of my favorite details from the Spring shows were the tattoo clad models at the Chanel show. Karl always seems to come up with the next must have unconventional accessory. Last year it was pierced headphones (mentioned here) and now it's tattoos. I do have intentions to get permanent ink...eventually. So until then I'll just have to play around with the temporary transfers now offered at Chanel stores. For $78 you can get a pack of 55 individual tattoo transfers. I'm not sure if it's the actual transfers that I'm swooning over or the creative placement. The garter placement is uber sexy and I love the look of an arm full of stacked bracelets. And I'm totally crushing on the collarbone tattoo...I love the design and the placement. So what you're saying is I don't have to doodle on my hands or shoe soles anymore?!?!!?!
Oh Karl...be still my heart!

Wardrobe Diaries:: Copper the Fox

Last night I headed out to Union Hall to celebrate two of my friend's birthdays. All week I have felt totally uninspired when it comes to getting dresses in the mornings. So last night I opted to hit the other end of the spectrum. I had no boundaries, no inhibitions, no filter. I literally just kept pulling things out of my closet and throwing it on. I think I glanced at a mirror a few times and once as I left my apartment building. Walking to meet up with the boys down the street to catch the subway together, I was realized I dressed like a 90's club kid... Clearly inspired by my rejuvenated love and admiration for all things Richie Rich. Of course I'm a moron and didn't take a picture. However my new friend, thrifting soul mate, and fellow Dominicana, Mia, snapped this pic of us. She's cute as a button and has mad crazy style!... Love everything about her!

Not pictured WEARdrobe::
Jacket: thrifted DKNY tuxedo jacket
Shirt: F21 Run DMC tank
Skirt: eBay white tulle petticoat (Christmas present)
Tights: Rodarte for Target black lace tights
Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless black booties (bday present)
Bag: black leather vintage clutch
Accessories: F21 sequin beret and glasses, eBay fox tail, vintage brooch, blue hair

Luckily Mia captured my fox tail! It is pinned under the lapel/collar of a thrifted tuxedo jacket with a vintage brooch I received for Christmas from mi madre. I really can't get enough of it, I've worn it all week attached to my purse, belt loop, or jacket. It's an inspired look from William Rast's fall collection that I posted about here. Officially crazed for more tails!

I Don't Like Being Watched...That's Creepy!

I love sunnies...This comes as no surprise to most of you. As long as I can remember they have been my accessory of choice. I'm constantly rotating different shades to better fit my mood and of course, my outfit! Sunnies cover a multitude of sins...hiding the circles under my eyes, my wandering eye as I examine those around me, and occasionally making me appear unapproachable when I'm attempting to dodge unsolicited attention on the street. I wear them when it's sunny, snowing, raining, even "at night!" My collection is home to the no fail classics like aviators and wayfarers but occasionally I like to stand out and draw attention to my face. I'm currently obsessed (like most everyone) with Alexander Wang's cat eye sunnies that appeared on the Spring runway--evenly tied with Prada's Fall eye brow sunnies. Both are so distinct and imaginative. My face is dying for a pair of both... The more I look at them and think about it, the Prada pair looks DIY-able...TBD

I've had this image on my desktop forever. I just think he's so precious in his wayfarers and tank. Exactly how I would want my nephew to be walking the streets of New York...

My So Called Life

When the first of the Fall collections started surfacing, there was a heavy hint of 90's grunge. At first I was annoyed at the idea of revisiting the days of Angela and Rayanne and their ill fitting floral print dresses with Dr.Martens and masculine over sized blazers/cardigans. Give me a couple weeks and I wake up a week later dreaming of combat boots. Work is more than crazy but I still want to be somewhat pulled together as I trek about the city, into showrooms, and designer studios. Feeling the need to slip into my DIY studded jeans with "distressed" tights tomorrow.

{lookbook.nu}

I can't stop thinking about these boots. They are the 20 eye zip patent leather lamper... They hit a little below the knee and have an inside zipper. Perfect for wearing slouchy and disheveled untied and half undone. Desperate to slip into a pair of these ASAP. And despite the warm weather hopefully creeping in, I would want to attract the likes of Jordan Catalano, and pair with summery light weight dresses.

Fading Fast...

I know I have neglected you friends!... But work has been keeping me busy, on my toes, up late, and fading as soon as I see my pillow! Let's be honest though, I can't complain, I LOVE my job! So with only a few words left before I snooze for a few hours, I wanted to show my boss ladies' first cover for Fader Magazine with Nicki Minaj. I'm totally jelly cat (as Roxy would say) over this denim studded vest. Pretty sure I would sport that with pretty much every dress in my WEARdrobe!

{Fader Magazine}

Fatima, Congratulations!!! I'm so excited for you! The cover is amazing!!!!!
