Suit of Armor...

Don't get me wrong, despite the heatwave the past couple of weeks, I'm in no rush for summer to be over. I'm thoroughly enjoying the warm summer nights, beach trips, and sheer attire. However, I do love a good fall season with light layers and a conglomerate of jackets. Every season I attempt to edit my look to a well polished uniform but without fail I veer into other territories inspired by new and old. I know that this won't be the only look I'll channel this fall, but it is an easy no brainer that can translate throughout all aspects of my life.

{clockwise from l-r:: Helmut Lang asymmetrical leather jacket, J Brand straight leg jeans, Gap denim jacket with shearling lining, T by Alexander Wang muscle t-shirt, Isabel Marant wedge sneakers}

*Leather is like a second skin to me, it instantly elevates a look and can dress down even the most formal of attire--always a fall staple for me.

*I'm envisioning a season of rich pigmented skinny/straight leg jeans--think maroons, reds, olives and of course essential black and grey.

*I recently saw a guy wearing this jacket and fell in love (couldn't hurt that he was extremely good looking). A touch of 90's unglam!

*I've learned to embrace a good tee every now and again and this Alexander Wang muscle shirt is no exception--perfect for coming in from the cold and having to disrobe due to overheating inside.

*My ever so coveted Marant sneakers--won't even elaborate, you know my feelings on these puppies already!

Some days you just need something disgustingly cute in your life.

30 Seconds to Wang...

{style.com}

It's been a little quiet over here the last couple of days (aka I moved over the weekend and spent 9 hrs at Ikea, the death of me). I've come out of my silence baring a simple and quick DIY project. While unpacking my life from boxes and suitcases I got side tracked (read: procrastinating) when I realized I was hoarding two denim jackets. If the jackets bore varying washes or had differentiating details I would have let it slide, but when the identical jackets hung next to each other I was more than mortified. I needed a change of scenery so in one swift move I grabbed a pair of scissors and retreated to my new living room floor.

1: Old denim jacket... embarrassed I'll admit, I've been holding onto this since my sophomore year of high school. It hasn't always been in my arsenal, but after a trip home in May, it found room in my suitcase to transplant to NYC.

2: Off with the sleeves...I cut right next to the seam and left the edges raw (the sleeves are being used for another DIY project--to be reported).

3: Layered over a leather hooded jacket I've been living in for the last couple of years. One of my favorite finds while celebrating with friends in Atlanta.

I'm definitely not the first to recreate this look, but it was that easy and will be a combination in my regular rotation. A new denim vest can't hurt to have in my closet either, already see it paired with the likes of plaid shirts, a cashmere jacket, and possibly making an appearance with my new obsession, long skirts!

I Don't Like Being Watched...That's Creepy!

I love sunnies...This comes as no surprise to most of you. As long as I can remember they have been my accessory of choice. I'm constantly rotating different shades to better fit my mood and of course, my outfit! Sunnies cover a multitude of sins...hiding the circles under my eyes, my wandering eye as I examine those around me, and occasionally making me appear unapproachable when I'm attempting to dodge unsolicited attention on the street. I wear them when it's sunny, snowing, raining, even "at night!" My collection is home to the no fail classics like aviators and wayfarers but occasionally I like to stand out and draw attention to my face. I'm currently obsessed (like most everyone) with Alexander Wang's cat eye sunnies that appeared on the Spring runway--evenly tied with Prada's Fall eye brow sunnies. Both are so distinct and imaginative. My face is dying for a pair of both... The more I look at them and think about it, the Prada pair looks DIY-able...TBD

I've had this image on my desktop forever. I just think he's so precious in his wayfarers and tank. Exactly how I would want my nephew to be walking the streets of New York...

Do The Pony...Do The Pony

Something about animal prints reminds me of being 13 years old. It could been because I owned everything leopard print from Guess or that I had zebra seat covers in my first car in high school. Regardless for the source of my hesitation, I couldn't help but fall for these pony hair animal print open toe wedges at the Alexander Wang's Spring 2010 show. I wish I could get my feet in these now! Would love to wear with my new charcoal raw silk harem pants or with my sequin harem pants. Lets be honest, I would probably wear these with just about EVERYTHING! How could you not!?!?

Love Love Love LOVE!!! Just utterly phenom!
