Absolutely had to include this today when I'm all about inspiration. I don't know what it is exactly about this video, but I really like it!

Monday Funday...
A little inspiration to get your week started!!!!
Stunning...
Obsessing over this bow tie. Do I foresee an upcoming DIY project?!

Back in October I styled a test shoot with some friends up in Garrison, NY. Last week one of the photographers released some B roll from the day shoot, and on Wednesday the video was posted on Fstopper's Wednesday Rundown. Click here to see the video (titled Heavy + Lite).

Yours, Mine, Ours...
I'm all for sharing a wardrobe with the boys. And when I say share, I obviously mean sneaking items without their knowing (I just outed myself to many of my guy friends). Well McQueen is making it easier to nix the stealth moves and instead, go halfsies on a his' and her's coat.
I first saw the coat in the recent women's prefall collection. A couple weeks later I was scanning through the men's FW 2011 collections (to see what I wanted to snatch) and saw it again.
I like this idea of designing for both sexes, and it all ties in with the "would you rather" post from a couple days ago.

Ring-A-Ding...
Christmas morning I opened a small red box to find a vintage engraved black onyx ring. While still in Texas, I decided to have the ring resized so it could fit my pinky.
I'll have to zoom in on the next image of the ring so you can see the love birds delicately engraved in the stone. And I must give Lauren of Undeclared Panache a shout out. She listed a similar ring on her gift guide posted back in December (here) which is where my mom got the idea for the gift! I'm absolutely in love with it and haven't taken it off since I've been in the city! Thank you Undeclared Panache and mom!

Would You Rather?!...
Last night I met up with a couple girlfriends for happy hour before scooting off to a birthday dinner on the LES. In true female/happy hour fashion, we were talking clothes & boys and then the two converged. The question was posed, "Would you rather date a guy that dresses better, worse, or about the same as you?" After pondering over the question for a lot longer than I thought it would take, I proclaimed, "about the same as me!" This morning I was walking to the coffee shop and spotted the most adorable couple walking in front of me. Scared to slip and fall in the slush by to trying catch up to ask for a picture, I quickly retrieved my phone to try and snap a few images.
Since my photo skills are severely lacking I'll describe::
He's in slim fit cargo pants tucked into L.L. Bean shearling lined snow boots, and a black fitted peacoat with a hood. She's in black harem pants (sigh), black hoodie tied around the waist, green puffy jacket, and green saucony shoes.
They were a match made in color coordinated heaven.. How did they pull it off so perfectly and where did she find him?!?!?!?! My response (about the same) was in reference to an image and look as exhibited above. Not drowning in labels or over styled and true to one's personal style and point of view.
So, would YOU rather your significant other dress better, worse, or about the same?!

Wardrobe Diaries:: Man Repelling Inauguration...
Yesterday I was invited to an event at What Goes Around Comes Around hosted by Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller, Elizabeth Spiridakis of White Lightning, and Tiffany Gong of Six Sick Girls. The room was full of eclectic clothes on both the racks as well as on the guests.
View of the room...
The Man Repeller herself (not at all repelling) in all her glory!
DIY plaid scarf
DIY rabbit fur vest (thanks to my mother)
Cropped Juicy Couture leather jacket (gifted)
Target black racer back tank
Thrifted printed harem pants
For more juicy details of the night, head over to The Man Repeller's blog, here....Your's truly also made a cameo on Leandra's site. I'm over the moon, officially a man repeller!

Sole Sister...
The extended weekend proved to be good for the sole! I danced to 70's disco, brunched with girlfriends, treated myself to a mani, saw Blue Valentine, sashayed around Project in Soho, and along the way acquired some new goodies to up my shoes game. I'm a creature of comfort...I wear shoes that I can sprint around the city in and that can withstand being on set all day long. Every now and then I want to reach new heights and certain actions need to be taken to do so.
These were the first purchase of the weekend. Christian Siriano for Payless Mena Dress Boot. Faux horse hair and embossed patent lizard with gold tone hardware and reflective square heel. I've been keeping a close eye on these for a couple weeks now. Right before the holidays I spotted them on a rainy day when I popped into the store to shelter myself from the inclement weather. When the boots were no where to be found in Texas stores, I was determined to get back to the city to reclaim my footwear. The wait was worth it when I found them discounted to $25!
Accompanying the Siriano score on my shelf are these pale pink metallic cut out peep toe lace up booties. During a quick run through Beacon's Closet Sunday with the girls, I glanced over at these and thought, maybe just maybe. Originally from H&M and only costing me $9 this fateful day, I couldn't pass them up. The heel height is more than desirable for a night dancing or walking/standing for a full day on set.
Comfort: A+
Versatility: A+
I'll be wearing these now with tights and socks and bare footed throughout the spring/summer

When I'm 64...
Earlier this week a friend sent me an email with the link to this article in the New York Times. With the subject title of the email being "Our Fashionable Yet Far Distant Future," I wasn't surprised at all to see images from Ari Seth Cohen's blog, Advanced Style. I clicked through the images and scanned the article before I returned to the email. As I reread it, I realized that my dear friend had tagged some of us by number as to who we would be...I couldn't resist!

About A Boy...
I've fully embraced the leopard trend...well I embraced is back in junior high when I had my mom turn my room into an animal print jungle! I've never met an animal print that I didn't like...but this is about a boy.
I found this image, an oh so chic homme, and found myself starring at the computer screen for a few minutes. Studying the silhouette, neutral and minimal color palette, and THE SHOES. I love that even the gents are indulging in the feline frenzy!

As my friend Jana would say as a seal of approval (aka I like what he's wearing), "This is something my boyfriend would wear!"

Style Copy Cat:: Joanna Hillman...
For the last 25 days I have been following the styling chronicles of Bazaar's senior market fashion editor- Joanna Hillman. Who isn't inspired by the bright lipped editor's enviable and often duplicated style?!?! Throughout my virtual stalking, I've come to realize that Hillman rocks a pair of pants like no other.

My vow to pants for the winter has been rejuvenated and inspired. Looking forward to more of my two legged friends. Catch up and keep up to date with Hillman's wardrobe diaries here!

Wardrobe Diaries:: Turban Twins...
Just after thanksgiving my sister gave birth to a little girl, Addison Julie. I have been anxiously awaiting her arrival, to Texas and into my life. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE and ADORE my nephew, but a little girl to dress up...that's a dream come true! We've been shopping for head wear for Addison and I knew exactly what she was in need of!...
Addison in her first turban!!!
Stepping Into the New Year...
Day 1 of 2011 is under my belt and I feel as though things are off to a great start. I'm not one to make resolutions, but this year I'm aiming to incorporate more statement shoes, casual and dressy, into my wardrobe. To start I've recently introduced these babies...
Zara pony hair leopard penny loafers.
