Bloggers Bogart Style

I do a lot of research for styling jobs, for my own personal WEARdrobe, for fun, and inspiration. In my research, I read a lot of blogs. I often find it to be the most elating of resources. These women (and men) have access to materials, designers, vintage, and thrifting delights that people often times overlook, but they also have an imaginative eye. In clicking through their archives of must haves and daily wardrobe diaries I find that I'm always clipping images to reference later. I wanted to highlight a few looks I'm infatuated with at the moment from some of the most dashing bloggers out there.

{Karla's Closet}

I'm in love with Karla's jacket...a coveted H&M find! The overall look is LA chic but with a very lady touch. It's casual, straightforward, and relatable.

Celia is killing me with this look. At this moment I wish I knew how to knit, the dress looks so warm and cozy, the perfect antidote for this blistering chill we've had. Love it paired with the knee high socks and wooden clog/wedges. And as if the outfit wasn't amazing enough she went and topped it off with a trench. While the weather in NY is screaming TIGHTS! NO BARE LEGS, this is definitely a look I want to wear while home in Texas for Christmas. We'll see what I can dig up in the knitted sweater department in the next week!

{Style Rookie}

Who doesn't love Tavi and her gifted styling. She's perfected the quirkiness/adorable look spot on (ok, I know she probably won't like being called adorable but it's said with the utmost respect). I'm constantly in awe of the looks she dreams up and blown away by her sophisticated, dry, and witty writing. Anxiously anticipating my time in Texas to recreate this blanketed jacket!!!!

Lacroix for Lanvin

I'm attending a bridal shower today for one of the sweetest ladies I know. With the wedding right at our heels (after the new year) and the brides wedding dresses hanging in my apartment (roommate doing alterations for it) I couldn't help but flip through the Vogue issue of Carrie from Sex and the City. Oh the couture goodness that is captured in those glossy pages. When I first saw the movie I fell in love with the Lacroix dress accessorized with black belt and gloves and polished off with mile long strands of pearls. While it would be such a glamorous and edgy look, I couldn't help but lust for the Lanvin short dress.

{Sex and the City}

Everything about this dress is j'adorable! I love the tiers, I love white gloves, short veil, white ankle boots. It's girly, fun, and sweet. I'm not usually one for "sweet" but this I could make an exception for. It is this perfect balance between being playful while still maintaining a standard of posh panache. Crazy for this dress, wish I had it to wear today for the shower!...sands veil and integrating black tights, and ankle boots!

Wardrobe Diaries: Downtown Mo Tops

My new years resolution is to make Wardrobe Diaries a regular feature on this blog. Surprisingly I haven't joined the rest of society in investing in a digital camera...or any kind of camera for that matter. I'm fortunate enough to run with a group of friends that consists of a few incredibly talented photographers (visit here and here) so I just haven't found initiative to purchase my own. OK, with the disclaimer out of the way here's a wardrobe post! A friend snapped a quick shot tonight so I figured I would share.

As true with any of my apparel purchases, I have to wear it as soon as possible. Although they are not pictured, my outfit was centered around and inspired by my new kicks!

Glasses: Ricky's (they are actually purple and I'm obsessed with them)
Scarf: Target dress turned scarf (recent impromptu DIY project)
Jacket: Thrifted Limited denim jacket (found in Nashville, TN for $4)!
Shirt: White over sized H&M tee
Skirt: Draped jersey mini from Target
Tights: Gift from a friend purchased in Korea
(***not pictured: F21 hooded leather jacket and vinyl "mo" tops***)

thanks Nae for playing sartorialist tonight!

High Tops...Mo Tops!

In the last six months my style and taste has evolved more than I ever thought imaginable. It could be that I stopped trying to put a label to my style and realized that I can dress as schizophrenic as I choose and at the end of the day still be me. I've never been one to wear high tops, low tops, tennis shoes of any kind for that matter. Aside from my converse I tend to lean towards boots, heels, and flats with an occasional sandal here and there. However recently I have been drawn to colorful, street credible, sneakers! My obsession hit an all time high with this Teen Vogue fashion spread. It went over the "I want them I need them oh baby oh baby" threshold when I saw this picture from a fellow blogger.

{le blog de betty}

I can't lie, I've been incredibly intimidated by the thought of sifting through the shelves of high tops. Trying to pick a color combo that I won't get sick of and integrates into my WEARdrobe with easy, not an easy thing to do. I was strolling through F21 last night killing time before meeting a friend for dinner when I stumbled upon these black glitter vinyl high tops. They fit the bill perfectly. Hopefully this will be a painless transition for me!

The Silver Lining

Last week I received a medium sized package from my mother. The box was full of some pretty sweet and stylish goodies but of course one piece had to out shine the others. On the top of the box, the first thing I laid eyes on was this new fur vest! I screamed when I saw it and consequently scared the old woman that lives across the hall from me. Originally it was a jacket but like we both do with most things, she had to tweak it a bit and make it MY OWN. It has all the original lining, just a quick modification to spice things up. Also has side pockets that are so warm and cozy.

White rabbit fur body with silver fox fur at the shoulders. So in love with this!!!!! Stay warm and cozy!

A huge thank you to Bonnie and Lonnie for thinking of me and letting me be a part of the magazine!
