Eeny Meeny Miny Moe...

It is no secret that I'm a bit of a sneaker head these days...and with so many killer options can you blame a girl for trading in her heels?!

*Be and D has made quite the splash with their heel painted canvas shoes. Comedic and comfortable, I dig!

*One of the models at work strolled in wearing these red blazing kicks and I fell for the old school style.

*Found these knock off Sandro sneakers on eBay and realized I like them better than the real deal...probably because of the modified wedge heel!

*I'm sorry to bring us back here, but yes I am talking about another pair of Isabel Marant sneakers. This time in bleached denim...everything I've always wanted!!!

First Come First Serve:: Potato--Tomato...

I'm a buy now wear now kind of shopper...I know, this mean I miss out on many of the first come first serve pieces every season. I like to do my research, compare prices, and invest in the items I just "can't live without!" Lets back track a bit--a week or so ago I dreamed of the Dolce Vita Pela wedges in hot pink (here). At $165 they aren't outrageous but I'm always looking for a deal! I made an impromptu run to Target last night and casually strolled by the shoe section. In passing I did a quick double take when I saw this "potato" on the shelf...

Mossimo Pilar Strappy Wedge Sandals:: JACKPOT! With a $29.99 price tag I couldn't pass them up. Especially when their identical twin, aka tomato, would run me 5.5 times the price.

Coco Canal scores another point on a stellar deal. See, good things do come to those who wait!!!

DIY:: Kick, Fluff, Change...

I've surprised myself over the last year or so with my growing medley of kicks. Before, I found comfort in my only pair of converse. As life continues to grow busier and my personal style molds into I don't even know what...I've been slipping into more and more high tops. Back in September I received a pair of khaki Generic Surplus h-tops as a birthday gift. I'd worn them a couple times, but quickly realized they needed some added pizazz to make it into my regular wardrobe rotation. I contemplated dying them or switching out the laces before settling on this...

I cut 2.5 x 2.5 inch squares from a fox fur stole I had draped over a chair in my room. From there I simply stitched the squares, below the laces, onto the tongue. Yep, really that easy and simple!

I guess these will be my next project!!!

What I Want Now...Geometric Secrets

I'm still denying myself the Isabel Marant wedge sneakers (here) so in the meantime I'm trying to distract myself with their runner up. While out on a personal shopping job I stumbled upon these 80%20 sneakers in Soho. The geometric boot-sneaker hybrid, like the Marant sneakers, house an incognito 3 inch wedge, made of calf hair, and is finished with blonde wooden toggles.
I think these are adorable, might have to pull the trigger on them!

Ever Thine::Ever Mine...

An excerpt from a convo I had last week with my friend Becky:: "Every time we walk by the store, Vic is always like, "Oh that's the designer that Mo likes, with the sneakers"....and I beam like a proud mom that he knows who Isabel Marant is!

Just when I think I've gotten over my love sickness with the Isabel Marant kicks, they have to be thrown back in my face on twitter and literally in my dreams. Ladies and Gents, this purchase just might happen! Brace yourself!...

Sole Sister...

The extended weekend proved to be good for the sole! I danced to 70's disco, brunched with girlfriends, treated myself to a mani, saw Blue Valentine, sashayed around Project in Soho, and along the way acquired some new goodies to up my shoes game. I'm a creature of comfort...I wear shoes that I can sprint around the city in and that can withstand being on set all day long. Every now and then I want to reach new heights and certain actions need to be taken to do so.

These were the first purchase of the weekend. Christian Siriano for Payless Mena Dress Boot. Faux horse hair and embossed patent lizard with gold tone hardware and reflective square heel. I've been keeping a close eye on these for a couple weeks now. Right before the holidays I spotted them on a rainy day when I popped into the store to shelter myself from the inclement weather. When the boots were no where to be found in Texas stores, I was determined to get back to the city to reclaim my footwear. The wait was worth it when I found them discounted to $25!

Accompanying the Siriano score on my shelf are these pale pink metallic cut out peep toe lace up booties. During a quick run through Beacon's Closet Sunday with the girls, I glanced over at these and thought, maybe just maybe. Originally from H&M and only costing me $9 this fateful day, I couldn't pass them up. The heel height is more than desirable for a night dancing or walking/standing for a full day on set.
Comfort: A+
Versatility: A+
I'll be wearing these now with tights and socks and bare footed throughout the spring/summer

Stepping Into the New Year...

Day 1 of 2011 is under my belt and I feel as though things are off to a great start. I'm not one to make resolutions, but this year I'm aiming to incorporate more statement shoes, casual and dressy, into my wardrobe. To start I've recently introduced these babies...

Zara pony hair leopard penny loafers.

If The Shoe Fits...

When it comes to heels, it is rare that you'll find me trekking about the city in any pair that doesn't have a wedge or platform. I've found a place of comfort and stability in shoes that support my always on the go life style and keep me from whining and complaining. However, when I saw these little diddies, I couldn't resist. The combination of colors and the mixture of textures were too good to pass up. And lets not overlook the more than reasonable $35 price tag. I was shopping in H&M with my mom about a month ago when I stumbled upon them. It appeared that they had just received a new shipment of the shoes and my size was available (which never happens)!

My friend Des was over one day and snapped this pic of them on the top of my book shelf perched on recent issues of Japan and China Vogue. After seeing her snap of my kicks, it makes me want to wear than more than usual! So bring it holiday season and you cobble stone streets!

For The World You Walk On...

Fall made a quick visit before winter-like weather settled into the city the last couple of days. And just in time for the winter chill, I received new boots that you're going to want to take note of! I never feel well prepared for snow covered streets or rain drenched sidewalks, and now that is over. This winter I will be stomping around the city in two new pairs of Cougar boots.

How adorable are these rain boots?! I love the faux striped sock that peeks over the top of the boot. I recently had the first chance to sport them about the city and totally fell in love. Aside from being so cute, they are incredibly comfortable. My beef with most rain boots is that the soles are thin and super flat. But not in these bad boys. They pack a cushy insole and support for my barely there arch. I'm almost wishing for more rain just for another chance to wear more of the goodness!

Every girl needs a pair of "boots with the fur!"...Nelly said so! I don't know how I haven't acquired such gloriousness before, but I'm glad I was able to hold out until these arrived. I love the versatility of these boots. You can wear them with the fur folded over for all to see or hike them up to keep your knobby knees warm, loose and slouchy or secure and pristine. I can't wait to wear these in the blistering cold, and I'm uncharacteristically itching for a snow day! Worn with tights or jeans tucked into them, these will definitely be a very important and fashionable winter staple in my life!

Do yourself a favor and check out Cougar's website (here). The styles for their winter collection are just too cute for words, and I guarantee you'll be warm, cozy, and comfortable throughout all the winter frost!

Chasing Pavement

A couple of days ago I went to San Marcos to do a little shopping at the outlet malls. Surprisingly enough I wasn't in the mood to shop, but loved walking around finding inspiration and beautiful things that make me smile. I strolled into Neiman Marcus Last Call and camped out in the shoe department. I feel in love with these three styles.

I couldn't resist these L.A.M.B. heels. I think these were the last pair I tried on. Everything about these screams chic, downtown lady. I would keep my outfit neutral in order to make the shoes and legs the standout component.

These Marni platform heels are adorable. I saw the colors from a mile away and knew it was love. They are a little 70s inspired and were so incredibly comfortable.... that, or I'm just so used to heels now in the city that anything goes!

These were my favorite shoes of the day. Another pair by L.A.M.B. that was taunting me with the thought of purchasing them for New Years Eve. So fabulous with a 5+ inch pin thin heel, grey distressed leather, key hole at the toe, and black elastic at the ankle. Would be the perfect finishing touch for my NYE options, but I'll just have to find something else! While I love and adore these shoes, I can imagine that they would quickly become the shoes I wear out when I'm going to be sitting all night. While I was confident in strutting around in the Marni pair before, now I'm a tad hesitant to boast in this L.A.M.B. number.

High Tops...Mo Tops!

In the last six months my style and taste has evolved more than I ever thought imaginable. It could be that I stopped trying to put a label to my style and realized that I can dress as schizophrenic as I choose and at the end of the day still be me. I've never been one to wear high tops, low tops, tennis shoes of any kind for that matter. Aside from my converse I tend to lean towards boots, heels, and flats with an occasional sandal here and there. However recently I have been drawn to colorful, street credible, sneakers! My obsession hit an all time high with this Teen Vogue fashion spread. It went over the "I want them I need them oh baby oh baby" threshold when I saw this picture from a fellow blogger.

{le blog de betty}

I can't lie, I've been incredibly intimidated by the thought of sifting through the shelves of high tops. Trying to pick a color combo that I won't get sick of and integrates into my WEARdrobe with easy, not an easy thing to do. I was strolling through F21 last night killing time before meeting a friend for dinner when I stumbled upon these black glitter vinyl high tops. They fit the bill perfectly. Hopefully this will be a painless transition for me!

DIY: Cowboy Booties Complete

It is finally complete! The DIY cowboy bootie project was finalized this morning. I still need to have the boots resoled but so excited for my new get ups! I was terrified to cut them, I think held the scissors in my hand for a good 3 minutes before I even picked up a shoe. Immediately threw them on with navy tights, green plaid skirt, jean jacket, and fur vest...simply to go grocery shopping. Now to play dress up and find more in the WEARdrobe to pair them with.

Thighs the Limit

As skirt and dress hems started to creep upwards, shortening to new lengths, boots have decided to follow suit. I'm loving this trend right now and anxiously awaiting Christmas morning to see if they walked their way under the tree!

DIY Operation Cowboy Booties Is A Go

This weekend I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to take on the flea markets. I was determined to find my cowboy boots for a DIY project I have been trying to complete with a friend. Saturday I went down to the Hell's Kitchen flea market, excited to see some old vendor friends and potential new treasures. My first stop was to see my friend Ann at Ann's Corner. We both share a love for Texas, an appreciation for the mountains and foliage in Knoxville, TN, and obsession with vintage and thrift shopping. After a brief catch up conversation, Ann quickly shuffled me into the merchandise to browse. I believe her last words were, "I have something that has your name all over it but I want to see if you pick it up!"

I've finally found my cowboy boots!!!! "All black everything" with a steel toe embossed with a longhorn. I mean, does Ann know me or what? I quickly snatched up my coveted find and headed home, satisfied with my new gems. I got home to ensue the DIY project and couldn't cut the boots. I couldn't even pick up the scissors. So my project has been rerouted. I'm going to keep the longhorn boots intact. My well loved TN cowboy boots will be getting the much anticipated makeover. Now that it is settled, pictures to come soon!

Brooklyn Coolness

I find that I'm never dressed appropriate for the weather.  If it's cold I don't have enough layers, if it's sunny I've forgotten my shades, and when it rains it happens to be on the day that I decided to wear suede shoes.  My goal this fall/winter is to be better prepared in a sensible, stylish way.  I came across this image of Michelle Williams earlier this week and fell in love with her shoes.  I'm still trying to figure out who makes them and if in fact they are rain boots.  I adore the platform on the boots and the shortness of the boot shaft.  The boot is the ideal counterpart for dresses and jeans alike.

Leg Trap

OB-sessed with these boots! I have been pleasantly surprised at all the incredibly edgy and cool pieces that Free People is currently offering. After Amy introduced me to the diy cowboy boots on the site, I did some more investigating and stumbled upon these little foot fetish leg traps! I love the unexpectedness of them. From the front they look like your regular knee high leather boots...but don't be fooled. Do a 90 degree turn and BAM! And they come with a platform wedge... Just killin' it!!!

DIY Cowboy Booties

I've been trying to help my friend Amy find the perfect pair of boots to take her through the winter. During our day long search, Amy stumbled to Free People and could have found one of the easiest DIY projects imaginable. A perfect take on vintage cowboy boots that are...in her words, "Awesome!" I couldn't agree more! The $300+ price tag made the, not buying these today list. I peered over at her computer and you could have read DIY all over my face. You and I both know that these are not worth that hefty price tag... and honestly I wouldn't pay more than $15 for them. My first thought was to run home and grab my vintage cowboy boots and instantly recreate the look, but realized that my boots have sentimental value and I'm just not ready to cut them up. So my goal for the next two weeks is to find a pair of vintage boots and give them a hack job (reinvent them for a more PC term). I will definitely post them as soon as they are complete, and hopefully wear them with a DIY skirt (made from a friend's old dress) I'm currently working on.

Amy, I owe you for this clutch find! Maybe even your own pair of DIY boots!

Bootie Camp

After two pairs of broken sandals this summer, I went through my closet and purged through mounds of shoes. I tried to be as honest with myself as possible and find a new home for my neglected pairs. Then I moved in with Becky and realized that while I'm normally an apparel and accessories phene, I have a tenacious love for my footwear. I promised myself to find some great kicks for the fall and winter but wanted them to also translate for the other two warmer seasons!

I purchased these purple Raleigh Madden Girl booties today as a last birthday present to myself! Obsessed with them! I couldn't let them sit in the box any longer so I wore them tonight with a pair of cuffed boyfriend jeans, a yellow racer back tank, and navy cropped cardigan to shield the wind! Will probably strut the whole weekend away in these!

These are the Christian Siriano booties that Becky got me for my birthday. I love them and spent three straight days in them. They hit at just the right spot, are uber comfy to walk in, and are super sexy... the teal sole is super fun and adds that extra special touch.

Do The Pony...Do The Pony

Something about animal prints reminds me of being 13 years old. It could been because I owned everything leopard print from Guess or that I had zebra seat covers in my first car in high school. Regardless for the source of my hesitation, I couldn't help but fall for these pony hair animal print open toe wedges at the Alexander Wang's Spring 2010 show. I wish I could get my feet in these now! Would love to wear with my new charcoal raw silk harem pants or with my sequin harem pants. Lets be honest, I would probably wear these with just about EVERYTHING! How could you not!?!?

Love Love Love LOVE!!! Just utterly phenom!
