How smart is this look, and most importantly, how easy?!

I will be channeling this ensemble verbatim for some April/May attire...especially for my flight/trip to Texas in a month. Lets be honest though, I'll recreate with white distressed boyfriend jeans.

Eeny Meeny Miny Moe...

It is no secret that I'm a bit of a sneaker head these days...and with so many killer options can you blame a girl for trading in her heels?!

*Be and D has made quite the splash with their heel painted canvas shoes. Comedic and comfortable, I dig!

*One of the models at work strolled in wearing these red blazing kicks and I fell for the old school style.

*Found these knock off Sandro sneakers on eBay and realized I like them better than the real deal...probably because of the modified wedge heel!

*I'm sorry to bring us back here, but yes I am talking about another pair of Isabel Marant sneakers. This time in bleached denim...everything I've always wanted!!!

Living For...

If you're a long time Coco Canal reader, than you are fully informed of my unconditional love for DSquared (confidently proclaimed my favorite collection/brand), so whenever I get the opportunity to visit the showroom to preview the latest collection, I react like a kid anxiously awaiting Christmas morning! I calmly pillage the racks, at least three times, examining fabrics, silhouettes and fit, new design details...hoping that the genius and essence of the brand will somehow permeate into my very being.

***SIGH***

I walked away inspired, excited, and with a full memory card of images. When I got home I refreshed my memory (read went back to my happy place), and got to thinking about the pieces I wanted to use for work vs wear. I never thought of my style as being uniform, but I'm starting to notice familiarities (exhibit A below).

Yep, this is what I've been all about for..well, unapologetically, quite a while! Seriously though, those jeans with the bottom of a vest sewn onto them with a pocket square. Who could forget those high tops?! And PLEASE for the love of all things holy, do not overlook that fur pullover...Just saying fur pullover gives me a full heart and tear filled eyes! Perfect color combination, proportion, and casualness...you know just throwing on my fur sweatshirt to grab my morning coffee and walk my french bulldog pup!

The Little Black Book...

After obsessing over white double breasted jackets for our gentlemen friends, I couldn't help but want my own version (said in the whiny voice of Veruca Salt)! I haven't found my exact match yet, but that hasn't kept me from day-dreaming of new ways to wear a spring/summer staple...and this year it is all about the whiteout.

This look with an Adidas tee will most likely be my everyday go to. I'll finish it off with my Isabel Marant sneakers, Sam Edelman spiked boots, or sexy strappy sandal. A look to take me from work to a designer's preview or happy hour. Can't wait!

I know...Most people would shudder at the thought of a completely white ensemble, but I think it is beyond chic. And if something gets dirty, I always have a shout wipe on me to clean up a mess. For this look I'm thinking a neon belt is the perfect finishing touch.

I'm definitely feeling the overall trend that is 'all over' the blogs and street style sites. A little throw back to 90's grunge with the folded down bib, but resurrected in new silhouettes. I could certainly get into a loose fit, boyfriend-esque denim onesie.

Homme Edition:: Seeing Double Part II...

Earlier this week I picked up the latest issue of GQ to do a little research. While thumbing through the enhanced style filled pages, I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw Johan Lindeberg's "way-downtown" cool ensemble. A pair of everyday grey straight fitting jeans, crisp white t-shirt, and a pristinely pressed white double breasted jacket...Nailed It!

Post sartorial find, I took to the internets to find more.

The Caten boys sent down this luxe double breasted jacket as part of their Spring 2012 runway show.

Gents, maybe you want to think about giving this a go?! For you first timers trying a double breasted jacket, take note of one thing:: double breasted suits can come with any number of button sets. But no matter how many, they should all be buttoned with the exception of the bottom button set.

What I Want Now:: Yikes Stripes...

A couple of weeks ago I went shopping with my style soul mate Savannah (you'll be introduced to her soon). We paraded into H&M, and I stumbled upon an incredible pair of striped palazzo pants. With only one pair left in the store, I left defeated when it wasn't my size. Like all good shopping enthusiasts, Savannah was determined to make my wide leg dreams come true. We hopped on the subway and headed to another H&M in hopes of 'striping gold.' Four stores later...no dice! I haven't been able to stop thinking about 'striping out' after seeing, first, the image of Sandra of 5 inch and up, and then, a pin of Enrica Ponzellini.

Thursday while shopping for the closet at work I laid eyes on yet, another remarkable striped frenzy at Zara...is luck on my side?!

I can't help but dream about my own pair of long, lean, white and black palazzos. And yes, eventually I will be strutting in the same style as Sandra. A little too jail house rock you might think... Pshhhhh, no such thing!

What I Want Now:: Forecasted Spring...

The forecasted weather for Thursday says it is going to be a high of 68 degrees with partial clouds. This, for any New Yorker before mid May, is reason enough to celebrate. With the information at hand, I couldn't hep but think of what I wish I would be wearing to greet the first premature hint of Spring.

I don't wear a lot of skirts, but this one from Acne I am all about...I'm a fan of anything that doesn't make me look precious. I'd keep it toned down with the coveted Celine tee, and add a POC with this H&M yellow jacket which has been sold out everywhere. My shoe game as of late has been restricted to all things with a hidden wedge, so my new pair of Willow sneakers is an obvious and sensible choice. No look is complete without an extensive arm party and the new 'it' bag hanging off that arm (ie Celine trapeze bag). A quick swipe of YSL's perfect shade of orange and I'm ready to sing with the birds and face the day with bare legs.

Welcome Home...

Typically I stick to all things fashion-related here, but I came across images of perfect home decor and can't stop thinking about them. Before we dive in, I should bring to your attention that I've lived in the same apt for almost two years and still lack a coffee table! Now that we have that confession out of the way lets move on...If/when I own a place in the city, this will be the inspiration.

Maybe I'm still stuck on the neon trend, but who wouldn't want an electric front door...would my roommates be mad if I did this to ours?!

Not that I'll ever own a place with this kind of space, but the idea of having a banquet inspired table, neon stools included, just tickles my fancy. I LOVE to cook and having this much room to have everyone over to break bread is what I dream of...for now I'll continue to host and my friends can eat my culinary couture with their plates in their laps!

Here it is, the fashion part of this post. McQueen knuckleduster clutch perched on a shelf between classic literature. Kind of genius--just like McQueen!

The creme de la creme!! A crystal & sconce basketball backboard. If I ever have exposed brick in my bedroom this, without a doubt, will be my headboard...or an eye-catching display in my living room. Gorgeous beyond belief--want it, need it, gotta have it!

Elliott vs Marant...

As I begin the count down to spring/summer you'll have to bare with me as I sort through racks, images, and tear sheets of inspiration. Don't get crazy, my look doesn't change that much, but as always, needs a little pick me up to kick things off. The first addition on the list is a pair of camel leopard jeans. I have been comparing the Current Elliott stiletto leopard jeans against the Isabel Marant Etoile wabi jeans and this is what I've found...

Kinda of major and exactly what I want to be wearing with oversized sheer button downs and/or neon poc (pops of color...come on people)! Just when I thought I made my final decision, I spotted a similar pair at the affordable $22 price point, wait for it... at TARGET!

Can't wait for these little beauties to arrive.

Decisions...Decisions...

If you've been following my blog for a while, I know how sick you are of hearing about my deep rooted affection for all sneakers a la Isabel Marant... one of the best purchases I have made that literally has changed my life and personal style. Some of you might want to cover your ears because I'm about to go on another rant.

I thought I was satisfied with my purchase back in August, I bit the bullet and treated myself, but that is not the case! The purchase has me foaming at the mouth like a ravenous dog for more colorful wedge high tops (I can see it now, a closet full of wedge sneakers without a red soled Louboutin in sight...ahhh to dream)! So this is the crossroads I've come to. When I complete the adoption papers--which baby am I bringing home?!

Totally torn between two lovers...HELP!

Girl, You Be Killin 'Em...

This ensemble was snapped by All the Pretty Birds and has my name written all over it...of course my interpretation would replace the heels with wedge sneakers, obvi. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I dubbed this look sporty chic so we'll just proclaim "girl brought style to the game!"

Expect to see this recreated time and time again.

No way I could let the hype behind Rihanna's new shade pass by without a blog post. To me, the Barbados beauty can do no wrong. I'm LOVING her blond locks (read jealous).

Incredible Bulk...

At first glance you wouldn't think this ensemble works but upon closer inspection the proportion is MAJOR! The details involved are so intricate--the cuffed sleeves, pin-tucked hem, & simple tailoring keep this look polished. On most people the oversized structure would be overwhelming but on Leticia it is perfection. Lets not overlook her neon accent either. Why didn't I think of this?!

My desktop has a folder strictly dedicated to adept ensembles I come across while exploring the internet. This week, the folder was on overload as I kept swiping one image after another. I quickly picked a few of my faves that couldn't go without some recognition.

Look 1:: Jealousy quickly set in when I saw this look. Blondie is straight killing it. Combining two hot trends (neutral & neon) in perfect proportion and harmony. The length of her coat next to a micro mini--SMART! Love it, gotta have it!

Look 2:: I've had this image of Miroslava Duma on my computer forever and realized I have about five different views of it as well. Sophisticated cool that can translate from work to a night out, as all good outfits should be able to do.

Look 3:: It is hard to grasp the fact that designers are already showing collections for Pre-Fall 2012 and last week the weather was in the mid 60's--what is happening?! Never the less I was clicking through Jenni Kayne's collection and gasped at this full time fancy ensemble. This just might be the outfit I wear to ring in the new year! Unexpected and daring!
