About Face...

I've been a cargoes naysayer for quite a while and well, I think I might give them a second chance. After seeing this snap shot of June's look, I'm itching to march myself down to the nearest army surplus store and try a new type of fatigue.

I love the slouchy fit with oversized cuffs--however, I'm still not convinced that anyone needs this many pockets :)

A Few Of My Favorite Things...

June Ambrose has a style that I can't get enough of!!! When I saw this picture I literally screamed--she put a few of my favorite pieces together in one outfit.

Absolutely dying!!!! The perfect ensemble for a busy styling/work day. Effortless, comfortable, chic, and put together. Genius--just plain genius!

The New Crew...

Fashion week was a show stopper for J. Crew. Outside of the Chris Benz presentation, I spotted Joanna Hillman wearing the retailers spring 2011 sequin maxi skirt. Absolute perfection.

Stylist du jour June Ambrose was also seen about the tents in a J Crew number. The jumper, also from the spring collection, is double denim genius. A little blue collar, immensely versatile, and exactly what I want now--LOVING!

Turban Tutorial...

When I got back from my two weeks in Peru I was in more than a desperate need for a hair cut. The stubborn Virgo in me had to postpone a cut until this past week so that I would have a fresh fade for E+A's upstate nuptials (images of the new cut soon). So in the three weeks I spent gallivanting about this city, it nearly became a requirement to sport some type of head gear...And thus my obsession with turbans has resurfaced from it's 2007 hibernation. I've been lusting for the scarves and shirts turned turbans that the fabulously stylish June Ambrose has been wearing. Yesterday she posted a step by step tutorial on how to recreate your own...the stars aligned and all my dreams came true!

1: Start with a large scarf that can fold into a triangle.

2: Treat your scarf like a towel after washing your hair, but tie it once at the front.

3: Tuck the excess fabric at the base of your turban.

4: The profile should look like a Mohawk.

Run This Town Fashion

I saw the new Jay-Z video ft. Rihanna and Kanye, Run This Town and I'm officially obsessed. Kudos and felicitations to the stylist for the video...KILLED IT. The style of the video reminds me of Che Guevara meets urban street. The video was completely blacked out from hoodies, to sunglasses, bandannas, hats... you name it! I can't stop thinking about the Che inspired beret with netting. At first the beret seemed like such an unlikely accessory for the style of the video, but it stands out that much more. It has inspired in Becky and me a few DIY projects to incorporate tulle veils with urban street wear (all to be revealed soon)!

Every look was so well styled and executed to the nth detail! Rihanna's look with the sequin top and bullet trim knocked me to the ground and then kicked me a few times when I tried to get up! HOLY COW! Immediately after seeing the video I was at my computer and phone trying to figure out a way to get my hands on anything that would resemble the same ammunition. Within five minutes I was directed to a store in Soho called Weapon Specialist (thanks victor). They specialize in faux weaponry for the film and theater industry...and soon to sell to the fashion/DIY industry!
