I Spy...

This isn't the first time I've come across this and by the looks of things it probably won't be the last. Designers flaunted bright ensembles down the runways for spring and fall, the trend hit high street and low street, and now it appears that our gentlemen counterparts are taking sips of the color blocking kool aid.

Closet Crush...

I keep stumbling upon images of this fantastical fro and the last curl has finally broken this camel's back.

Meet Julia Sarr-Jamois, I'm sure you are acquainted with the half French half Senegalese beauty. The 22 year old fashion visionary started modeling in her teens then quit college for an internship with i-D magazine and is now the fashion editor at Wonderland Magazine. I'll refrain from the usual adjectives I use to try and articulate my admiration and instead leave you with some visual representation (aka a closet to die for).

my absolute favorite look...recreating this on the fly!

Clothes Minded...

Just as I thought I was getting back into the swing of skirts and dresses my mom sent me a package with three pairs of colorful wide leg pants (smurf blue, red, and hot pink)...also known as heaven! Since their arrival I have been living in them and don't see an end in sight.

The blue pair made their first appearance last weekend at the most perfect outdoor brunch at a friend's apartment.

Bloody red traveled with me to DC this past week for a day of shopping with my college bestie in Georgetown.

With the introduction of these perfect palazzos into my life, easy and breezy are all I can seem to think about on the wardrobe front. A closet stocked with floor grazing goodness in every color of the rainbow. My new obsession had me pillaging the internet for more ideas and inspiration to send to my mother.

I'm a sucker for a romper/jumper any day of the week. Not sure there is anything that could surpass this.

As the crazy lady from Wal-Mart would say, "These pants are JAZZ!" Two toned, high waisted, wide leg (UGH!). These bad boys just kicked my solid slacks' booty.

Friends and family, I'm sorry to say I have once again abandoned the freedom of a skirt/dress and I'm recommitting to all things pantaloons--in a less man repelling way :)

Now and Later...

In the last week or so Resort 2012 collections have started to pop up on Style.com. I've already completed the virtual tour of each collection editing out looks to assemble my dream wardrobe. The pieces I have gravitated towards I've realized can play double duty in multiple seasons with a quick change of accessories and counterparts. So from the Resort collections I've picked the following::

I love this YSL top. It's fun, festive, and I don't think anything is quite as sexy as emphasizing the collar bone. I love it paired with these tailored and chic shorts but can also see it being worn with wide leg or flared jeans for the fall and an oversized belt.

Her collection screams of her own personal style which kind of makes me love it even more. Rachel Zoe knows what she likes, what works for her, and is unapologetic for her decisions. I absolutely adore this utilitarian inspired maxi dress accompanied by a substantial slit. I'd wear it now with hot pink wedge heels and a turban and just as she styled it with a leather jacket during fall--especially with the dark lips!

Michael Kors has had a career for 30 years and counting because he knows how to appeal to all women. His collection is consistently classic but still accounts for a touch of edge to keep things from being boring. A nautical striped t-shirt dress in of the moment neon is spot on. I wouldn't change anything about his styling to sport this now, and would throw on black liquid leggings and over the knee motor boots come fall/winter.

As I've already obsessed about and gushed over, I'm a huge advocate for color. Jenni Kayne has done it once again with an acid yellow cap sleeve t-shirt dress. Her collection is always on point and this is no exception. She kept things in a realm to make the clothes work with your every day life--nothing was overtly precious. The only part of this I would change for the weather now is a pair of J.Crew MacAlister wedge boots (here) and slip a pair of navy or grey tights with said shoes and a cognac leather bomber later.

DKNY found a way to stand out among a spectrum of bright, bold, intoxicating colors. Well structured and perfectly edited neutrals will get me every time. Painfully chic in the way that it appears so effortless. I'll take it as it is now and swap out the black heels for white converse kicks. Later in the year I would wear it with some kind of colored wing tip oxford.

Jean-eology...

By now you are fully informed of me deep devotion to harem pants, especially one in the denim family. As the temperatures in NYC continue to climb I have been debating on when is the proper time to safely store them for the return of fall. However, after stumbling upon this image a few nights ago I'm just not ready to say farewell.

Either the best harems I have ever seen or I need to raid Salt n Pepa's closets for their 90's wide leg baggy jeans.
