You're the Apple of My Eye...

Leaving for Texas tomorrow morning to hang out with the fam for a week. My sister and nephew are flying in from California so it will be a full house. Of course I continue to put off laundry and packing until the last minute! So excited to have some down time next to the pool and eat tons of Mexican food (not sure that's the best idea if I want to be poolside)! Will have lots of wardrobe diaries, diy posts, and inspiration to post while I'm there.

Charm the Birds Out of Trees...

I love accessories...especially rings. When my life was simple (if that were ever true) I was a classic by the book ring bearer. A ring or two strategically placed on each hand with an occasional pinkie or thumb ring...depending on the day. As of late I keep adding rings to my finger repertoire, the more the "merrier" right?! Ok ok, not that type of ring. I've been looking for rings with character, something that looks like it has a family tree, loved well, and caliber. I was browsing through some websites for fun and immediately thought of Digby and Iona. A while back I posted about their sample sale with an image of the 14 pt deer ring that is mounted on Becky's hand daily (here). In my harmless search this is what I found...

I'm the girl that cringes a little at overt sugary sweet romantic gestures. However, I can't deny this, it's so adorable. Obviously made to resemble a tree stump with an engraved heart on the side. The best part is that you can personalize the ring with that special someone's initials. I know so sweet you want to gag yourself SLASH your heart melts a little at the same time. It has a story to it, character, individuality, and old romantic symbolism. Head over heels for this ring, just so dang cute and charming!

Tonight I got a last minute ticket for the Corrine Bailey Rae concert out in Williamsburg (thanks again Nate). I was coveting the one shoulder jumper that she was wearing the entire show. My mom doesn't know but she has one more project to add to her list! The show was incredible and the opener, Daniel Merriweather, was just as entertaining and talented. I mean come on, he brought a guy out to play the harmonica for three songs and covered two of my favorite songs by Nirvana and Paul McCartney.

Mary Kate and Ashley were at the charity event I went to this past Friday. I found this picture of them and realized it was taken right behind Roxy and me...I believe Roxy and I were waiting for Flo and the Machine to take the stage...which never happened.

Full Time Fancy...

Most weekends my friends and I do brunch on Saturday and/or Sunday. This weekend seemed a bit crazy for everyone so to make up for it, a couple of the ladies and I had a tiny tea party. Lauren received the most adorable tea set a couple years ago as a wedding gift so we took advantage of it and made a theme party of course which included cucumber sandwiches, cream cheese wheels, banana bread with cinnamon/sugar butter, hats, floral print dresses, and fans!

Chinae planned a Kentucky Derby themed birthday party on Saturday for her boss, and the fans were left over goodies that we snatched up. They definitely came in handy at just the right time for the heat and humidity yesterday.

So I present to you the new female traveling band...The full time fancies...Lauren, Me, Shuffle, Chinae, JML, Amy, & Kathleen (who actually took the pic!)!!!!

You already know how much I loved the Miu Miu S/S 2010 collection. However, my wallet would not/will not allow me to take home any of my hearts desires. I was browsing a couple websites and saw that Zara was also inspired by the high end collection and produced some pieces in the same vain. I've been looking at every location in the city for the collection and sending my mom on the goose chase in Texas. As the sun peeked out today and the clouds gave way to a blue sky, I found it!!!!! I finally got my hands on the navy/white cat printed dress (sans collar unfortunately). None the less, I'm still super excited about my new frock!

A little random, but last Wednesday Roxy and I made a 5 star dinner! Fresh pasta with roasted Brussels sprouts, chorizo, and parmigiana. SO GOOD!!!!! Delicious dish you're on the air!
