The Final Countdown...

Someone told me the other day that the end of summer is upon us...which means fall layers and yet another birthday to add to my belt, all of which I will eventually happily accept. Since this news was brought to my attention, Jacob and I decided to graze the Internets to see what might inspire our fall looks this year. While eyeing a must have pair of pants from Zara we swiped this image...a look I'm dying to sync into my fall rotation.

*Initially I loved the black patent loafers but of course I need something that isn't so obvious. J. Crew's blush pair is just the ticket.

*It is probably a crime against fashion that I do not own a black blazer... not really my cup of tea. This one from The Row is a total knock out, just from this swipe you can tell the level of quality and craftsmanship. The brand happens to make a killer tee as well so I'll substitute black, white, and grey regularly.

*Some people will never understand a harem pant but I will forever embrace them...especially a pair from G-Star.

*I added my own touch, a versatile sweater for those "just in case" moments.

?!What's on your radar for fall?!

Suit of Armor...

Don't get me wrong, despite the heatwave the past couple of weeks, I'm in no rush for summer to be over. I'm thoroughly enjoying the warm summer nights, beach trips, and sheer attire. However, I do love a good fall season with light layers and a conglomerate of jackets. Every season I attempt to edit my look to a well polished uniform but without fail I veer into other territories inspired by new and old. I know that this won't be the only look I'll channel this fall, but it is an easy no brainer that can translate throughout all aspects of my life.

{clockwise from l-r:: Helmut Lang asymmetrical leather jacket, J Brand straight leg jeans, Gap denim jacket with shearling lining, T by Alexander Wang muscle t-shirt, Isabel Marant wedge sneakers}

*Leather is like a second skin to me, it instantly elevates a look and can dress down even the most formal of attire--always a fall staple for me.

*I'm envisioning a season of rich pigmented skinny/straight leg jeans--think maroons, reds, olives and of course essential black and grey.

*I recently saw a guy wearing this jacket and fell in love (couldn't hurt that he was extremely good looking). A touch of 90's unglam!

*I've learned to embrace a good tee every now and again and this Alexander Wang muscle shirt is no exception--perfect for coming in from the cold and having to disrobe due to overheating inside.

*My ever so coveted Marant sneakers--won't even elaborate, you know my feelings on these puppies already!

Be Better Twins...

My roommie and bestie, Chinae, is a long time veteran to the blog--she's been with me since the beginning. After a pretty routine yet boisterous weekend {zombie hut & beach day} we washed away the remnants of sand and suited up for a dearly beloved's show at Rockwood Music Hall. Apparently we were on the same page when it came to accentuating our post beach glow as we barreled into a cab wearing fraternal blouses...

Do yourself a favor, "be a better blogger" and check out Chinae's--Be Better. You'll be well rounded and versed in all things health, dating, food, drink, style, survival, AND sass!

City Chic...

The last couple of months I've had the opportunity and privilege to get to know London transplant, Esther Adams, fashion writer at Vogue. She's the sweetest person you'll ever meet, wickedly talented, humble, soft spoken yet wise beyond her years. Esther's style is thoughtful and precisely punctuated in a way that is just as inviting and warm as she is. Check Esther out on Vogue's feature, One Girl 5 Days 5 Looks, to see what she wore to the office for a week. You're bound to be inspired by this British beauty.

Vanity Affair...

I was so sure that I had my fall wardrobe perfectly edited until I had to stumble upon this image and totally fall in love with the cool lady like demeanor. Over the last year or so I've unintentionally committed myself to a life of pants--which has been a life changing (and wardrobe altering) experience, however, now things are going to look a little different. Lets get something straight, this look will in no way be an everyday ensemble--more of a practical go to for first impression business meetings...or something very adult like that.

How do I interpret the look you ask?! Well....

Skirt:: I'm starting with this saturated plum colored skirt. Keep in mind the a-line silhouette, since the top is a bit longer the proportions need to be intentional. {zara, zip two pocket skirt}

Blouse:: Like many, I'm on the Equipment blouse bandwagon (classic and quality). Stark white and I have never had a good relationship so I'm opting for one in a shade of cafe au lait. I've never been a "buttoned up" kind of gal so to add my own touch I opted for a blouse sans cuffs. {equipment, "daddy" blouse}

Necklace:: I knew exactly where to turn for the cherry on top of this ensemble. My coworker has been hard at work designing these incredibly vibrant and adorable necklaces that I keep seeing in magazines and street style images--definitely a year round statement piece. {kelsey quan, camp adventure necklace}

Shoes:: It's a tie when it comes to this exclamation. I often find classic pumps to be a little too lady like for me, but I wanted to keep things pseudo professional. How did I solve that conundrum?! I stayed with the classic silhouette and went with a bold color and print. I LOVE the color blocked toe but every look needs a little animal instinct. {zara court shoe with contrast cap toe; zara coltskin court shoe}

An incredibly chic ensemble to keep up my cuffless sleeve!

Get ready--tons of fall inspiration and chit chat is about to commence...it's my favorite season after all
