Red Carpet Favorites...

Last night I camped out on the couch to tune into the Oscars. I was disappointed by most of the night but found favor in two Academy members who killed it on the red carpet.

Cate Blanchett:: Absolutely stunning in the Givenchy Haute Couture lilac dress. Perfect for her coloring and impeccable detailing. I missed her walking the red carpet, but when I saw her sitting, waist up, I knew it was nothing but good things. I lost it when I saw her, head to toe, presenting.

Russell Brand:: To be honest, I rarely pay attention to the British comedian's deconstructed look. However, last night he really did it. I love the navy and black combo. It was pulled together, beautifully tailored, appropriate for the event, and relevant to his day to day style.

Kudos to style and perfection!

What I Want Now...Geometric Secrets

I'm still denying myself the Isabel Marant wedge sneakers (here) so in the meantime I'm trying to distract myself with their runner up. While out on a personal shopping job I stumbled upon these 80%20 sneakers in Soho. The geometric boot-sneaker hybrid, like the Marant sneakers, house an incognito 3 inch wedge, made of calf hair, and is finished with blonde wooden toggles.
I think these are adorable, might have to pull the trigger on them!

Day Dream Believer...

I believe the saying goes, "dream in color!..." As my roommates would note, I dream in technicolor. Our morning routine goes something like this...Me bursting through my bedroom door expounding, "I had the craziest/weirdest/most amazing dream last night!" I LOVE sleep, but what I love most are the dreams. I can recount every detail, sense, emotion, all of it. Sometimes I think it is a bit strange, but I've been like this for as long as I can remember. Saturday morning snuggled on the couch with my roommates watching the Time Warner guy install cable and internet for us I recited my newest night vision. The dream itself was hilarious and completely unrealistic (aka hanging out with Kourtney & Kim Kardashian at the Grove in LA) but my outfit in the dream was summer time perfection. As the story telling concluded one of my roommates noted, "Wow, you even dream in outfits!" For the rest of the day I kept thinking of the ensemble and how much I wanted it to inexplicably teleport into my closet. I took the liberty of making some small adjustments to the outfit (grey ant instead of ray bans and burberry instead of an acid washed version) but you'll get the basis for where my subconscious was going.

The look isn't a departure from what I would normally wear, but the florescent color combination definitely is--so very LA of me! If only the weather here would warm up enough to start leaving the house sans tights and sleeves.

Fashion Week:: Luca Luca & Rachel Comey

No surprises at Luca Luca yesterday...Just amazing well crafted pieces in rich shades, textures, and fabrics. The house is never about quantity but quality as you'll notice from the luxurious leather/fur cape combo. The saturated colors were not over baring, perfect for the woman looking to incorporate more color into her wardrobe. I'm in love with the utility belts that double as a cummerbund and I'm always welcoming to anything decked out in fur or leather!

I'm a HUGE Rachel Comey fan. I think her clothes are exquisite and who does shoes better than she does?! The black jumper with the ruby red booties stole my heart! I literally dreamed about this outfit last night (yes I'm that big of a loser)! The navy/black dress is a year round staple. Sheer in all the right places, oversized, and subtly sexy. Contrary to my Comey favorites, the collection was bustling with prints that doubled as texture. New silhouettes, like the mid-calf flared pleated pants, played up the abstract prints. All in all an A+ collection...as always.

Tried to snub a shot of the finale for you... Excuse my shoddy iPhone video.. but enjoy!

Fashion Week:: Dallin Chase...

Yesterday was the kick off of fashion week and to get the week started right I headed to the Dallin Chase presentation. I met owner and designer, Jason Cauchi, a couple weeks ago at the Matchbook launch party. We talked dream vacations, gushed over the coyote fur pillows in the Coach store, and the necessity for a fur laptop case. I posed the question, "How would you describe the Dallin Chase girl?!" yesterday and in less than 140 characters received a short list proclaiming, "thoughtful, confident, charming, fly!" The collection was every bit the proclamation. I walked into the studio and my jaw hit the floor. The combination of textures, fabrics, and the flawless layering--a dreamy collection!

Of course I was drooling over the fur pieces, always love at first sight! Rabbit fur died and treated to look like leopard print--Oh you know, just two of my favorite joys in life combined into one fabulous extravagance!

I love the poppy punch of color here along with the muted color of the jacket with the quilted texture.

If I were to have a signature style this would be it!!! I live for a sequin and these paillettes in the form of slouchy, casual pants, I MEAN COME ON! Paired with an ultra cool leather jacket with a fur collar...all the bases are covered like I've checked off all the food groups!

Don't forget the bedazzled socks for good measure.

Jason, congratulations on such a successful collection! I'm still day dreaming about the presentation!

Style Like U:: Rebecca Weinberg

Before I left for the holidays I was trekking around the city returning clothes from a job that had just wrapped. At my first stop of the day I had a quick chat in a shared elevator with mega stylist Rebecca Weinberg. The Texas transplant has been on my radar long before I ever thought about being a stylist... we are talking back to her days on Style Network's Look for Less people, yep I went far back into the archives! A couple of days ago she was featured on Style Like U and I think I've watched the video at least six times. She's a breath of fresh air...

But really, is she not the cutest?!!?! And she's just as lovely in person as she appears in the video. Keeping my fingers crossed for our paths to cross again!

With My Own Two Hands...

Thursday night I headed over to my former roomie's, Becky's, incredible Chelsea studio to catch up on life, talk all things fashion, and create some accessories with my own two hands (an exercise we did frequently when we lived together)! These projects were not difficult by any means, but still enjoyable and the outcome, chic.

Tassel earrings:: I popped into MJ Trim for a quick visit and found these swirly tassels. At $1 a piece I couldn't resist a trial run. On my way out, I stopped next door to pick up some earring posts. After a small dollop of craft glue, ta da!!!!!! I feel pretty good about these and will definitely be making more in different colors and lengths.

Last week I posted a few inspirational images, one of them being a gentlemen with a feather bow tie. I haven't stopped thinking about it, and Becky was suffering from the same accessory envy. Luck for me, Becky has an array of feathers left over from her headband company...

Apparently I'm still channeling the black and white swan! I finally have my very own feather bow tie. Planning on sporting at least one during fashion week, with what I'm not sure yet! And I'm still debating on trimming the ends of the white version, hmmmmm!!!??!?!

Matchbook Launch Party...

Wednesday night post-work, I "ice skated" down to the Coach store on Prince Street for the launch of the new online magazine, Matchbook. The party was just as charming and lovely as the magazine and its creators, Jane Warren and Katie Armour.

Co-hosted at the coach store by Lela Rose, Rita Konig, and John Derian, the event had coach craftsmen on premise demonstrating some of their leather work. I couldn't be more excited for an online magazine. I love Armour and Warren's goal for the magazine, "To inspire women around the globe to create a fabulous life that they adore!" To kick off their premier issue, they couldn't have picked a better cover girl: stylish, warm, and feminine designer Lela Rose! You must check out her article to get a glimpse into her new Tribeca apartment, her design inspriation (for her line and her home), and to snag her homemade biscotti recipe.

I can't wait to see what the next issue will showcase. Katie and Jane, CONGRATULATIONS! The first issue is beyond words, and the two of you are so lovely.

**On a random but related side note, I found my dream come to life at the coach store...coyote pillows! I'm over the moon that they actually do exist but now desperate to recreate my very own (since I know the price tag is more than I could handle)! Stay tuned lovelies!

Ever Thine::Ever Mine...

An excerpt from a convo I had last week with my friend Becky:: "Every time we walk by the store, Vic is always like, "Oh that's the designer that Mo likes, with the sneakers"....and I beam like a proud mom that he knows who Isabel Marant is!

{image from @juneambrose}

Just when I think I've gotten over my love sickness with the Isabel Marant kicks, they have to be thrown back in my face on twitter and literally in my dreams. Ladies and Gents, this purchase just might happen! Brace yourself!...
